Why is my laptop connected to the internet but doesn't work?

I have DSL with a wireless router to connect my laptop. Laptop says it's connected and signal strength is excellent but nothing can access the internet. I use windows XP.

The desktop computer works fine.

I have repaired the connected and released the IP address and reconfigured it.

The same thing happen to me and it was my ethernet card.

1) Give an automatic ip address

2) Uncheck the Workoffline.

Unplug your cable modem and wireless router. Leave them unplugged for a minute so they can reset. Plug it all back in and you will be good to go!
