How should I handle this situation with a carpet company?

The carpet company subbed my job out to a contracter who claims he accidentally kicked my wall in.I just had that whole area drywalled, and plastered. The guy left a gaping hole about 10x 10 inches.I didn't want to get into an confrontation with the him because he was already cranky and scary looking. I waited till he left %26 called the carpet company.I spoke to a manager, told him what happened and also said that they need to cover the expense of the repair. The manager stalled for time saying that he needed to pull my file( yeah right cause he found it on the computer)and that we'd hear from him tommorrow.I'm thinking they're going to try and pull some crap on me so I want to know what to do from here on out.Thanks.

Confront the company in person by showing up at their office. Nothing scares a company more than someone who is in person with their facts and numbers in order. You can also contact the contracted company yourself and ask them what happened so you can get a better understanding. Tape the conversation with them stating their name and business in your residence and go after the compnay. If they still give you noise about it then present them with a copy of the tape, threaten the Better Business Bureau and inform them that an attorny will be intouch.
