How can i reinstall windows when there are missing files at start up?

the other day, my computer just shut off - and when i restarted, error "file not found or corrrupted" and to insert set-up disk to repair C:/WINDOWS..... Ntfs.sys

when i insert the only disk i have, and hit "R" for repair, the system goes through start-up and brings me back to the same error?

Do the install as if you are starting all over - do not select 'repair'.

As it goes through checking the system it will find the original version %26 ask about installing over it. YES.

You will not lose data in My Documents, etc.

[that link is good too !!]

A clean machine is important, but not likely for this problem - virus over-write of files possible OR a bad drive. If available, put the disk in another PC %26 run virus checker.

run diskmanager from boot, create partitions and then re-install the Operating system you need.
