Bypassing computer to power AC compressor.?

I have a 199 Ford Windstar whose computer started acting up a week ago. A bunch of items on the Van stopped working including the AC. The blower still works fine , but the compressor doesn't turn on. Is it possible to directly run a seperate 12v source to the compressor to have it turn on. I simply refuse to get a new computer, since I've only owned this car for 4 months and already spend $3500 on repairs. Will it work if its given power directly from any 12v source.

NO, IT'S NOT!!! If the PCM is not commanding A/C compressor operation, THERE IS A REASON FOR IT. Attempting to bypass the PCM, will only cause problems. Take it in to have it diagnosed properly, if functioning A/C is that important to you!

Yes but bad idea
That's impossible. The compressor is driven off a belt from the motor, not electic power.
