Can you use photoshop to restore a photo thats been damaged by sunlight?

I have an old family photograph that has been damaged by sunlight and is now faded. I have recently installed photoshop 7.0 on my computer and was wondering if there is any way it could be used to repair the picture? If anybody knows of any tutorials on the net that could help me, I would be so grateful. I haven't used photoshop before and find it difficult so if anyone can explain how to do it in simple terms for a simple person then that would be great. :)

Thanks.

Sure you can restore it. Just scan the pic first then open it in Photoshop. There are so many tools on Photoshops though, i find the best way to learn is to play around. I don't think you can find free tutorials on the web, at least not complete.

I've just bought 2 Professor teaches CD Roms and i see they have Photoshop, try that! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Greenstreet-Prof...

email the image to me and I will take care of it for you as best as I can. Email me at tom@LAdigitalPhoto.com and I will tell you how to send it to me. Scan it (if you have a scanner) at 600dpi. Here is an old link on my site you can see what I did http://www.ladigitalphoto.com/PhotoResto...
I know there are filters to adjust contrast, coloring and pigmentation weight on Photoshop. The filter tools are somewhere in one of the menus on the tool bar. And the clone tool (stamp shaped thing) can repair any tears by replicating the part of the picture you select. The dodge and burn tools can lighten and darken parts of your picture. (Black round hammer and a hand that looks like it's pinching something) Make sure you're on the layer with your picture on it (if you have more than one layer). Oh and I don't know how to convert it back to greyscale if the color is altered. Sorry!!
