Internet down when computer sleeps?

Ok, I have a HP Pavilion dv6226us laptop that I've had for, oh, 3 months. I also have a Netgear Router (for 2 years) to connect to the internet.

Well, my computer goes to sleep after an hour or so of no use. When I come back, the internet doesn't work and I can't repair it/restart it. I have to restart the computer to get it to work again... Help??!??
