What is the best computer protection program(s) for VISTA, totally free, something that detects files and repairs as well, without having to pay extra or subscribe to something.

PLEASE NO tRIAL VERSIONS, because the software gets out of date and is really hard to remove, plus there are those annoying pop-ups telling you to buy the pro version.

I can say for a fact that there is no one program that can do this if you are not going to pay. The free programs I recommend using Avast Anti-Virus, Spybot Search and Destroy, and Zone Alarm. If you want more of a choice go to SnapFiles.com and find that freeware tab, hit that and find the Security-Privacy section. It will give you a list of programs which are free that you can use. I recommend using the ones that have a rating of 4 or 5 stars.
There are many ones you can depend on.
