My computer shows that I only have 10 GB on C instead of 40 GB and keeps saying Low disk space?

My computer's space seems to have decreased from 40 GB to 10 GB total size for some weird reason. So now it says that I have used up 8.25 GB and I only have 1.75 GB left. It keeps telling me that my disk space is law...I have also lost some programs like Paint, Caculator and Games trying to repair it...Is there a way I could repair the computor and get the lost programes?

assuming your hdd is fine(and mind you, its a big assumption in your case)

all u can do is to verify your installation.

go to control panel-%26gt;admin tools-%26gt;disk management now search for any other partition than c drive. format and use. if you find any unpartition space, create new partition, format, and use it

softwares like partition magic(from symantec) will also be very useful.

before buying a new hdd, try to reinstall your windows also

ur case seems like, u forgot to partition the hole space. HDD is of 40GB, it's fine, but how many partitions u done. ( 1 partition with 40GB? u have to check this.) If you go to Disk Manager window, u can see the unpartitioned space, create new partition %26 use that also.
